Rural Music Awards Hairstyle

Hello everybody,

I wore my hair like this yesterday, and it reminded us so much of the Carol Burnette "rural music awards" skit on Youtube that I'll post the video below.  My country singer look :-)

Fancy Braided Bun

Hey everybody,

I tried to do a version of a pretty circle braid updo that I saw on the internet~ it turned out a little lop-sided, but it's hard to braid 360* around one's own head lol

Here are links to the two Lilith Moon videos you can combine to create this hairstyle~ Lilith posted this idea on her Facebook page with a few pictures of her own.  First video on circle lace braid updo~ and the next  video on a circle French braid.

(When I fixed my hair today, I did the center circle French braid first, then the outer lace braid.  I poked the ends of my braids up under the bun, so that's actually all my hair and not a sock.)

For lack of a better name (or the imagination to think one up!), I just called this my fancy braided bun.  If you have a better name for this hairstyle feel free to comment below.  As always, thanks for looking!

Wavy Updo

Hello all,

Yesterday I made two chain braids (or snake braids) to use as accents~ you can see pictures here.  I love the crimps that chain braids make~ much more defined than regular braid waves.

I kept these crimpy sections separated from the rest of my hair.  Then I sectioned off parts of my hair and made twists, like Lilith Moon does in this video:

When I finished making the twisted sections, I put my hair into a low ponytail.  I braided that hair into a rope braid, then wrapped that braid into a rose bun and clipped it in place with my butterfly clips.  Finally, I took the crimpy sections of hair and arranged them between the twisted section.  I wrapped the ends around the base of my rose bun and bobby pinned them in place.  It sounds complicated when I try to describe it, but actually it was relatively easy.

And now for pictures :-)

A lot of pictures, I know~ thanks for taking the time to look!

Perimeter/Cage Braid~ easily one of my favorites!

I first learned how to do this look from a video on Youtube~ a Mexican guy did it on a mannequin, actually :-)

Here are some pictures~ they were taken this past August in Hawaii:

Dutch Lace Braid~ my look for today

Thanks to Lilith Moon's new video shown here:

I had the idea to try out a Dutch lace braid today.  This is no where near as lovely as Lilith's look, but maybe I can try to do this exact same hairstyle later.

I do like a Dutch lace braid~ it's a smooth and easy way to dress up your hair!  Especially when you want to put it up in a bun, like I did today.  Here are some pictures~ Wimsey wanted his picture taken, too. He got a Christmas bath this morning so he's all nice and camera-ready!

Thanks for looking! Remember to check back often for new looks and hairstyles. I hope you're having a very Merry Christmas Eve-Eve-Eve!
